Dr. DeBruin began working in the mental health field in 1990. He has acquired knowledge and skills in the following mental health settings: individual and group private practice, community mental health, general hospital, and three psychiatric hospitals. He holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Seattle Pacific University and has completed an American Psychological Association approved Clinical Internship. Dr. DeBruin divides his professional life into four areas: clinical services, life coaching, speaking, and authoring. All of the four areas highlight the foundational themes in his professional work: passion, integrity, authenticity, vulnerability, science, and Christian spirituality. Dr. DeBruin has an extensive background conducting forensic evaluations for the Superior Court of California and testifying as an expert witness on issues related to psychiatric diagnosis and dangerousness. Dr. DeBruin has been joyfully married to his college sweetheart since 1991 and they have three children. He enjoys music, movies, reading, world travel, and kayaking.
